Every man wants a suit in his wardrobe. As a suit makes a long-lasting impression and also makes anyone look smart and confident. A well-tailored suit brings grace to personality of men of every age and style. While buying and styling a suit, there are lots of things to keep in mind whether it’s fabric or the right fit.
So here are some rules which are useful when you are planning to wear a suit:
01. The right length of the jacket
While styling your suit, you must have to look for the right length. Because the right length of suit jacket can help you to balance the upper and lower body. Ideally, the jacket length should cover the hip area, no more length is required. For measuring purpose, it should be half the height from the neck to the ground.
02. The fit shoulder
A flawless suit needs to have the right fit at the shoulders. You have to care of the seam line on top also, it should end just at the arm joint. If you’re choosing a jacket with padding, then it should not hang more than one cm. The line of the sleeves should be straight and not adopt the shape of the muscles, which can be a major faux pas.
03. The buttoning rules
You have to follow the buttoning rules, whether you’re wearing a single or double-buttoned suit. For a single-buttoned jacket, you have to make sure that the buttons close without any strain, means there should be no folds or stretching. Also, for a double or three-buttoned suit, always keep the last button open, this will help to avoid a taut ‘X’ shape and makes the jacket fit better.
04. Flaunt your shirt sleeve
A well-styled jacket will give a glance of the shirt. The length of suit sleeve should fall in such a way that it shows the cuff of the shirt. The rule is that the cuff shouldn’t show more than 1-2 cm.
05. Carrying less items in the pockets
Carrying wallet and heavy items in the pockets can eliminate the decorum of suit. While wearing a suit, carry only utmost essentials and lighter things like cards which won’t bulge out and keep your suit flattering.
06. The right-kind of a waistcoat
If you’re planning for a three-piece suit, then pick the right waistcoat that flatters your suit. Keep in mind, the waist jacket fits just above the belt. To keep your look sharp, always button-up the jacket to avoid flapping sides.
07. Put on your trousers high enough
To avoid a loose and filthy look, put on your trousers at the right height. It should fit at the hipbone. Wearing it below the hips can create an illusion of short legs and a longer torso, which is aesthetically wrong!
08. The right accessories
While picking your accessories, you need to make sure that they coordinate well. For shoes and belts, you should pick the same colours for an eye-catching look. For instance, a black belt and shoes will complement a blue suit.
