Self-Sanitizing Textiles : self-sanitizing textile

The demand for self-sanitizing textiles and materials is growing as consumers internalize the threat of the ongoing pandemic. As a result, many scientists and tech companies are working together to answer this need and give individuals peace of mind. Most recently and according to various news sources in India, Muse Nanobots—a subsidiary of Muse Wearables—has developed a special nanotech-coating that will enable any surface to be a self-sanitizing textile. The company worked alongside Chicago-based Situ Biosciences and the collaboration was supported by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras’ incubation cell. It is believed that the innovation “can eliminate coronavirus within five minutes of contact.” It is believed that the coating can be applied to a wide range of products—from face masks and PPE gowns to packaging materials and more.
