India has been ruled by many empires in its history. But the Mughal empires have left evidence of incredible architecture. Taj Mahal is one of those architectures. Taj Mahal means the crown of the palace. The name itself expresses the beauty.Taj Mahal in India is located in Agra city of Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the seven wonders in the world. It had built-in 1631-1653 by the emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal as a memorial for her wife’s demise.She had died while giving birth to her 14th child in 1631. It took 22 years for the completion of this monument. The Taj Mahal has built by more than 20,000 workers. So for their stay, Shah Jahan had built many houses which are in the inside area of Taj Mahal.There is a total of 22 small domes are made on the gate which denotes the period of its construction. There are three gates. The western gate is the main gate, the eastern gate, and the southern gate which is meant for the exit.

Taj Mahal is made up of white marbles called Makrana marbles which were brought from Rajasthan. The color of the marble changes during day time. It looks pinkish at early morning, milky white at noon, and golden color at the time of sunset. Many varieties of gemstones had used for the design. It glitters when the moonlight falls on it in the full moon night. A golden dome had used on the top which has replaced with brass later by British rulers.It’s a mausoleum. It is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1983. There are billions of tourists come to visit the Taj Mahal every year. This is one of the masterpieces among the architecture work of Mughals.

♢ It is a 243km distance from Delhi. Buses and cabs are available here.

♢ Agra fort railway station is 3km distance to Taj Mahal.
